Teaching Our Own & Other Faiths in Schools has a very clear focus. It is to identify and share international best practice in teaching RE with a view to providing high quality professional development for schools and teachers in the UK and US. The particular sample of schools chosen to participate are secondary schools, largely with a Muslim, Jewish or Christian faith foundation - and a few state secularist schools in the UK. All the schools are identified as not only having good practice in teaching about and from their own faith but also as having an interest in expanding their knowledge and understanding of how to teach about and from the faiths of others. This is a timely project which aims to respond to the needs of different populations living together in global, culturally diverse societies.
